Some probing questions
and possible solutions regarding our email
service provider (Constant Contact) and emails that are
not being received by members and/or non-members.
- Has there been a change
in your spam filtering? If you did not install spam-filtering
software, ask your network administrator or email provider if any recent
security changes were made to your mail service. If there were changes,
request that they
whitelist Constant Contact
mail servers so you can receive your mail.
- Is the email going into
your bulk or junk folder instead? This is known to happen on
occasion, especially with services like
Yahoo and Hotmail. In these
cases, make sure that you review your email settings and allow mail from
Constant Contact to be delivered directly into your inbox.
- If your
address appears in "Other,"
click the email address link to bring you to the "Subscriber Details"
page. Scroll to the "Undelivered Email History" section at the bottom
and find the "Error Type" message. you may want to refer to
Constant Contact IP addresses
again with them.
- Does your campaign use
words or phrases that may have triggered a content filter?
Using certain words can cause your mail to be blocked. Network
administrators and ISP providers may use content filters and set
different levels of strictness. You can find general information about
this in "What
can I do to keep my emails from being filtered?" but you may
want to consult with your Network administrator or ISP provider for more
information that is specific to your service.
- Was your
message bounced back to our Constant Contact servers when the
email was returned? We recommend that you
copy the bounce message and discuss it with your network administrator
or ISP provider. If there was a change to the blacklist or
spam-filtering software, Have your technical department remove the block
on Constant Contacts mail, or add them to your white list for the

Our Email subscription service,
Constant Contact, does not send spam. Unfortunately, ISPs and corporate
domains are battling a huge spam problem today. In fact, some reports
suggest that more than 50% of all email sent is spam. To combat this
problem and satisfy their customers' requests for less spam, ISPs and
corporate domains have been forced to make some difficult trade-offs.
Many ISPs and corporate mail administrators have chosen to use blacklists
and powerful spam filters to block spam. The trade-off is that these ISPs
tend to also mistakenly block some legitimate email. The industry calls
the blocking of legitimate email "false positives".
The good news is that
we do find success with many ISPs and corporate
mail administrators when we have the opportunity
to explain Constant Contact’s business. We are
happy to talk with any ISP or corporate mail administrator that is not
accepting email from Constant Contact. Please email me directly at
Austin_sthilaire@msn.com (NJ
ISACA webmaster)……..In your email, you should include all previous email
correspondences with your ISP regarding the block. If you did not speak
with them via email, please write up a summary of your conversation and
their reasons for not unblocking you. I will take the issue up from
there.
Constant Contact was named one of the top 10 Winners in Small Business
Technology' magazine's Inaugural product of the Year 2005 Awards.
